September 30th - Notebook

I had this little brown notebook that was a little too plain, so I doctored it up with some green and white paper, and rubber stamps. I think it turned out really cute! :)

That's it for my month of cell phone pictures. It was fun, but the month is over. I've learned a lot about the capabilities of my LG Neon phone camera. I don't know when I'll post another photo, probably next week, though, because I'm going to go to Point Lobos with a friend. Have a great week! :)

September 29th - Portrait of a "Gurl"

Here's a female seagull. I seem to always shoot photos of the boys, because they're so pretty. She let me get really close before she started to look a bit nervous, too. :)

Here's a shot of Dennis the Menace park, at Lake El Estero, in Monterey, as seen from the other side of the lake.

And because I seem to like to do this, lately, here's a "watercolor" of a rose.

September 28th - Beginner Ballerinas

Beginner Ballerinas:

I made it into a watercolor, partly to hide the identity of those in the picture, and partly because it was just asking me to do so. I adjusted one girls foot that wasn't in exactly the right position, and added a skirt onto another for continuity.

Bonus shots:
This tripped me out. I was walking down the sidewalk, and saw the word, "tree" spray painted here. I'm wondering if the city is planning on putting a tree there, or if someone thinks there should be a tree there and is making a suggestion? So strange...

This is one my child took, of a lamp. I cropped it, adjusted the levels, and put a thin border on it. I think it turned out rather well.

September 25th - Still Life and Starbucks

Here's a still life of some cherry and plum tomatoes. The large red and yellow ones were picked yesterday, at my mother in law's house, in 90 degree weather. The itty bitty red one was grown in my front yard. It rarely goes over 65 degrees here. See the difference a little sun can make?! My kid says the tiny one was the best tomato she's ever tasted. :) Since the lighting wasn't the best, I turned it into a watercolor again. :P Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket. I'm going to blame the lighting...

This other shot is of a Starbuck's on the peninsula. I was driving by and started craving a decaf white chocolate mocha, soy, with lots of whipped cream on top. Since I didn't have time to stop, and really didn't need to drink it, I took the photo instead. Even in broad daylight, my cell phone camera takes grainy shots. I feel I've gotten lucky a few times this month, but mostly I am not very happy with the quality of pictures I get with this phone. Oh, well. Next 30 day challenge, I'll use my regular camera again. :P

Oh, and those boxes on the sidewalk are newspaper and adverts boxes.

September 24th - Cici

Today is the 18th anniversary of my mother passing away. Not a great day for me, but not a terrible day either. At least I didn't cry the whole day! Only a few tears. Anyway, here's a shot of a cute dog names Cici, who was very sweet and kept trying to eat my shoes. And, a shot of the sunset. Unfortunately, the colors aren't as great in the photo as they were in person. Very rich orange tonight. Have a great weekend everyone!

September 23rd - Area Rug Patterns

Here's a section of an area rug I liked, from the local Home Improvement store:

September 22nd - Footprints

Footprints

I thought it was neat that I could see so many footprints on the bridge in the morning dew today. There were more when I was on my way to class than there were when I left, but I was running late so I had to take this shot after. Oh well.

September 20th - I gotsa Bonsai!

My hubby bought me a Bonsai tree not too long ago, for no reason. I love those kinds of presents! I think he forgot that I'm allergic to Juniper, though. Oh well, I still love it! :)

September 19th - A Great and Terrible Beauty

I just finished reading this book, "A Great and Terrible Beauty" by Libba Bray. The librarian recommended it, and every book she's recommended, I've loved. It's set in Victorian times, very dramatic, ethereal, mysterious, and well written!

And, a bonus shot of a frog statue I have. I really should plant something in that pot...

September 18th - Maurice

Maurice, the Home Improvement Store's resident pigeon. Watercolored because it was fuzzy. He's got a weird bump on the back of his head. It looks like a Mohawk. Pity you can't see it in this picture. He wouldn't hold very still for me.

And, this is Wally, an African Gray parrot, who was rescued from the SPCA. He's so sweet, and loved posing for the camera!

September 17th - Book Chair

I just noticed, after over two years, that the chairs in the library are shaped like books. I'm real observant, ain't I?!

September 16th - Abstract Circles and Squares

These are tile samples from the local Home Depot. I thought they were pretty. :)

September 15th - Angel, Rose, and Dog

Taking a walk around my neighborhood, today, I found these treasures. The dog's name is Buddy, and he is so sweet!

September 14th - My Puppers!

Coalette

Both of them

Nitro

Nitro

Here are some shots of my dogs, Nitro and Coalette. The running gag around here is that if I had thought of it at the time, she would have been named Glycerine. :P

Oh, and they're mutts. Border Collie mixes. Their mom was a tiny, 15 pound dog that looked like a cross between a German Shepherd and a Chihuahua - all browns and blacks. Very strange.

The dad was supposedly the American Eskimo that lived in the same house, but we saw a Border Collie trotting around the neighborhood, and the owner of our puppies mom claimed her dog never left the yard, and the Collie never came over. She had no fence.

To that I say, "Yeah, right." They're Border Collie mixes. American Eskimo dogs are pure white, and their color is a dominate trait! There's no way! Besides, I like Border Collies. Lol!

September 13th - Long Unused Railroad Track

Long unused railroad track. My one and only photo I took today. I had a bad day. There was anger and exhaustion involved. :P

September 12th - Monterey Bay Alliteration

Picture of the day: Monterey Bay from Cannery Row.
Can you find the sea lion, seagull, and sailboat? It's an alliteration!

Bonus shots:
Saucer Plant

Monkey in the Middle

Corn Fed

September 11th - Flower Scene

Sorry about this, but I just had no good shots today. :P Too busy working, then napping, then eating out because I was too tired to cook. Another (fake) watercolor for your (hopefully) viewing pleasure.

September 10th - The Grand Ol' Flag

I took some shots of some pretty orchids today. Unfortunately, they're all blurry. So, here's another random shot I took that isn't all that blurry. It was labor day not too long ago, anyway, right?!

September 9th - Mustache Car

How can I see a car with a mustache and NOT have it be picture of the day?!

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

September 8th - Porcelain Doll "Painting"

A porcelain doll that was my grandmother's, made to look like a watercolor painting. Making things look like paintings saves me sometimes, because my 2mp cell phone camera doesn't always take good shots, and I am having trouble re-installing the neat image plug-in on my computer and am currently using PS 7!

September 7th - Sony Camera wishes and Panorama dreams...

Here's the best of the lot, today. I was walking through a store (I won't say the name of the store, but if you were to guess the color of their logo being red, I'd say you've hit the bulls-eye!), and stopped to drool over the cameras. I want this one. I've been wanting a point and shoot, and this one is small enough to fit into my pocket. I don't have one that is that small other than my cell phone. This Sony has 14 mp and has a really neat panorama feature where you just sweep across the scene and it puts it all together into a panoramic shot for you. Very wide angled, but very, very neat!

This shot turned out to be a black and white in color, and I wasn't even going for that!

September 6th - Leaves

Here's today's shot, some leaves of a plant at a friend's house. I just liked the way the light was hitting it from the window behind me, although I wish my camera could have done a better job:

Here are a few bonus shots from the fair yesterday:
This one shows the "grown up" ferris wheel at the other end of the fair (circled in red), as taken from the "little kid" ferris wheel, which is the one we rode:

This one shows the golf course that is behind the fairgrounds, and I'm showing this one since there was a comment that our area was so "green" and I wanted to show just how green! I love my peninsula!

This one shows the ferris wheel we rode, from ground level:

And, last but not least, this one is my daughters entry that won first place and got us a VIP parking pass, 4 tickets to the fair, and 12 ride tickets. Plus she won a ribbon, too. :) I removed her name from the label and put in "first place!" Oh, I should specify that she didn't draw the flower, only colored it.

September 5th - Fair from the Air

I went to the fair again, today, and this is a picture I took of it from the top of the ferris wheel. I forgot I don't like heights all that much. I was happy when that ride was over! ;)

September 4th - Puddles

This is Puddles. I'm pet sitting for a friend, and it was really, really hard to get a still shot of this dog. In the background, you can see the blur that is Hudson, a Golden Retriever. Puddles was just as excited, and I had a hard time getting her to sit! She's a sweet dog, and I've known her a long time. It's so sad that she has cancer and most likely isn't going to make it through the rest of the year. :( Couldn't tell from how happy she looks here, though, huh?! :)

Oh, yeah. Sorry about my knee in the foreground, too. From the blur in the background, I think you understand why I wasn't sitting on the ground trying to get this shot! ;)

September 3rd - Orange Flower

Here is the original shot:Here is what I did to it - made it look like a painting:
Not that exciting, but I like it. :)
