July 10th - Lizard

Found a lizard today. I'm not sure if it's a horny toad or a blue belly or what. Anyone know? :)
I love how easy going lizards are when you're sneaking up on them! When they're not running away very quickly! LOL

Weird, how similar this is to yesterday's shrimp shot. :P

Oooh, he looks like an interesting little fella! Nice one. If it's a cool day, they will be sluggish as they haven't warmed up enough to move fast (if I can remember my high school biology well enough).

I don't think it's a horny toad...I'd guess it was some sort of a lizard? I dunno, but lucky find. I've tried so hard to find a salamander to show my son this summer, but no luck yet.

Oh, haha...I thought a horny toad was an actual toad. Oh well, don't mind me-I hardly ever know what I'm talking about. :-)

I think it's a Western fence lizard, aka blue belly. Their snouts are generally short I think. We have lots of them around here. I even used one of my pics of one in a H2H several months ago. You can see a trace of the blue behind his front leg in your picture.

Anyway, it's a good picture - great find since he's camouflaged pretty well into his surroundings.

It must be a good shot, your subject gives me the heebee jeebees! I'm not a big fan of that which does not have hair! :)

With your framing, I feel as if I'm peering through a glass tank. Fancy coming across that guy in your travels. Ours must be more stealthy!

Great shot! There are a couple of salamanders that I want to get a shot of, but when I merely think of photographing them, they detect that thought and disappear.
