January 27th - Bottle brush

This is a bottle brush plant. I used to live in a house when I was 7 that had a front yard lined with these. Bees love these bushes, and that's when I learned how to hold perfectly still when a bee lands on you. I've still never been stung (knock on wood). :) I love these flowers, they're so pretty. If you pull out a bit of the red "petals" sometimes you can get some nectar. Yum. ;)

Oh! This is one of my favourite "exotic" plants! I'd forgotten about pulling out the petals to suck. The leaves are so nice and green. Perfect for your gallery!

Very pretty plant. I would imagine that hummingbirds would love it too.

I have several of these bushes I also like them because they attract the birds.

I thought of Jujubie as soon as I saw this photo. She has suggested I take a photo of bjbs with it, but I'm unsure if the colours would go well together.

A very nice cheerful photo for today.

I love these. They are very common here as they are Australian natives. This is a great shot showing their very showy colours. Very nice work.

We have birds that love this pretty tree. I haven't tried sucking the petals but remember doing it with clover flowers year ago.
Good advise re the bees too.
