January 3rd - Elkhorn Slough

Elkhorn Slough, in the morning. As taken from a car. I went to Santa Cruz today, and since that is in another county, I took a few shots on the way there and the way back, while still in my own county. :)
This is facing east, and you can see all of yesterday's rain starting to evaporate into the air in the background. The ground was positively steaming this morning! :)

And, since I had a hard time choosing today, here is an alternate photo. It's a somewhat zoomed in shot of the skyline of the city of Monterey and part of Pacific Grove, from Seaside across the bay. This was handheld, obviously. ;) I just really liked the shape the lights took.

Very nicely framed and that second shot is really weird. What an amazing effect!!

The beautiful colours and the way the background recedes to ever-lighter pastel misty shades is just beautiful. Awesome that the foreground is so nice and sharp and the background becomes so misty and ethereal. Great job.

The second one is a very typical handheld skyline. They are all interesting in their own right...

Oh a lovely spot, the reflections are awesome in the lake.
Beautiful landscape shot, the clouds are breathtakingly misty and sort of spooky too.

Great landscape. I think you've got the exposure exactly right. Nice work.

Fantastic shot with the landscape, it almost looks like a painting. Good job! The second shot looks like there's a bunch of disco dancers having a party :)

The one with the jiggly lights looks kind of neat. Those are fun to do every once in a while :)

Lovely landscape, some great atmospheric perspective there! And in a funny way, I really like the abstract second shot as well!
